Consistently making sound financial decisions is diffcult. Whether you are trying to choose from your company benefits, determine the best way to deal with student loans or design your retirement portfolio.
What about the people trying to give you advice? Are they on your side or just want to sell you something?
Welcome to Financial Rounds - A site dedicated to guiding doctors from seemingly insurmountable debt to financial independence.
In 2016, my son graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School and headed to Ann Arbor, Michigan to become a Neurologist. At age 27, he is saddled with substantial student loans and a government-run system that is less than helpful.
I am working with my him and some of his fellow graduates to help them navigate these issues. Most of them, like you, have substantial student loan debt and are eager to get their lives started but are unsure of how to proceed. Some of you are planning marriages, children, and your first house. All of you have limited time to learn everything necessary to make the best financial decisions.
As I work through understanding your common issues and develop solutions, I will share them with you on this website. I will do everything I can to find the best financial answers for you. My goal is to make available to you the same in-depth advice that I am giving to my son.
As you age and face new financial challenges, I will continue to share relevant advice on this site. I intend that the scope of the site will grow as your needs develop and are resolved.
If you have a specific question or want a particular subject covered, please feel free to drop me a line anytime at Hello@PersonalChoiceFinancial.com.
Our philosophy is that everybody needs sound financial advice. No matter what your level of income or wealth, we are here to serve you.
I hope you find this site to be helpful on your journey to financial abundance.
CHRIS HANSEN, CFP®
Why would you listen to me?
I am an ex-engineer who became a Certified Financial Planner™ in 1996, so I love solving problems.
I am a Fee-Only Planner, which means I don't sell any products.
What am I selling? The only thing I sell is my advice. I intend to make all the advice I have, available to you on this site.
Why am I giving this information away for free? I am surprised at the lack of real information that is available for new doctors. Most of the information I have found is either incomplete, too dumbed down or just plain wrong. The rest of the information is a thinly veiled attempt to sell commissioned products or to monetize a website.
For many of you, the information I share here will be sufficient for you to make your own financial decisions. I will not hold back any information. Please keep in mind; I am not an English major, I am an ex-engineer. Also, it 's hard to anticipate everybody's circumstances and to communicate to so many different people. After all, you didn't become a doctor by reading a textbook; you're not going to become a financial expert by reading this website. Many people are going to want more help or more tailored information. I encourage you to seek out a Fee-Only, Certified Financial PlannerTM. Again, the goal of this site is to share with you all the information you need.
I hope this site can help many more young doctors than I have the time to meet with personally.
